To ensure that local residents have input into solid waste issues, the legislation that crated Indiana's solid waste management districts included the formation of a Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC is designed to give concerned citizens direct input into the solid waste planning and management process. By law, the CAC must include representatives of the solid waste management industry, the envrionmental community and other concerned citizens knowledgeable about and interested in environmental issues and not employed by the solid waste management industry. The Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District is fortunate to have an active and knowledgeable CAC. The CAC is currently made up of eight individuals that meet on a quarterly basis. In addition to providing valuable feedback regarding the District's annual budget, the Committee also reviews grant requests the District receives and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding the funding of those grants.
Currently, the District's Citizens Advisory Committee is made up of the following members:
